Transit Tech High School is a high school located in Brooklyn, New York. It is a school whose mission is to prepare students for post secondary opportunities in the field of STEM, specifically computer and electrical engineering. In addition, through an apprenticeship program with industry partners such as the MTA, students are extended employment opportunities with the MTA and become supervisors within three years. In addition to receiving an average starting salary of approximately $45-50,000 annually (including full benefits), they also receive full tuition reimbursement to earn degrees in the sciences. Most of the students at Transit are pursuing engineering degrees at local colleges and universities while being employed at the MTA. Transit Tech also has a legal and law enforcement program, focusing on law related careers such as cyber security. Transit Tech has many clubs and activities, such as Robotics, the National Society of Black Engineers, Yale and Columbia Model Congress delegations Debate and Mock Trial Teams and has recently added Model United Nations to the list. The College and Career Office has been acknowledged as the model for CTE schools due to its design, focus and activities which offers college tours to Tier one schools such as Brown, Yale, Columbia, the United States Military and Coast Guard Academies, UConn, the University at Albany, SUNY Maritime, Howard, Morgan State and Delaware State Universities. Transit Tech celebrated their first West Point admit last year and also works with local military recruiters for those students interested in pursuing careers in the military. Transit has recently added international travel opportunities in an effort to give students more opportunities to develop as global citizens. Moreover, for students interested in attending trade schools, the office also provides that support as well. The goal is to make sure that every student has a post secondary transition plan. There are sports teams and other activities. For more information, please visit their website at www.transittechhs.org.
